A Beautiful Autumn Day
A beautiful Autumn day. Orange and red leaves floating. A cool breeze blowing. Sun peeking.
And the incessant braying of a leaf blower.
What ever happened to the good of days of raking leaves then jumping in the piles? Blisters on your thumbs. Sore triceps.
Maybe leaves are supposed to fall on the ground, (note that they do fall on the ground). Maybe leaves are not meant to be raked, or blown away. Maybe we are supposed to leave leaves there. Look at the etymology! Leaf – leaves – leaven – leave.
If leaves fall on the grass, they cover the grass, then then would allow the grass to survive through the winter. The ‘ole blankie-blankie effect.
