Bandaz Begs to Differ

I am now uninsured.

No longer are the discussions of health care reform topics on NPR or the Latest Headline links in my browser.  Now they are real issues that have drawn me to a divergence: do I make a public case about this and fight it here on these postings and elsewhere; or do I quietly accept the insurance company’s decision?

I’m hoping to tread lightly for fear of risking my family losing their coverage.  But not lightly enough that I shouldn’t at least publicize what has happened.

My case is not as bad as others that I have heard about, but it is just as absurd.  I was denied coverage when trying to change insurance companies due to a “pre-existing condition.”

To accept this terminology is the first step to admitting that we have a problem.  A condition, a medical condition exists.  Except now it pre-exists.  So it exists before existing.   An amazing existential question.  Descartes would be humbled.
